We’re only nine days away from the big day, and that’s pretty awesome and pretty scary at the same time.
Molly and I were talking last night about the wedding and everything that comes with it. She was the one who brought this up, but I totally agree. I don’t think that the idea of getting married has hit me full on yet – at least it hasn’t hit me and stuck.
I mean, how could it? This is such a life changing event. I’ve got absolutely nothing to compare it with – everything I’ve got ranks somewhere between Lord of the Rings and buying a new car. So I’m not really sure I can yet comprehend exactly how this is going to affect me in total, which is probably why I’m still going about my daily life as if I don’t have this gigantic change looming.
But every once and a while, it hits me. I’ll buy something that expires after our wedding. Or I’ll set my Tivo to record something after the big day. Or I’ll just think about how in a week I’ll be getting ready for my rehearsal dinner – not someone else’s dinner, but mine. And then I’ll just think “I’m getting married!!!!! Holy crap!”
But then the idea of marriage goes away again because to focus on it would cause one of two things: excessive vomiting (from nerves and for no other reason), or complete distraction from everything else I should be doing. I mean, I find it hard enough to concentrate at work already.
